Ouster
Fleet management
Context
Ouster is a lidar technology company that develops high-resolution sensors used to help vehicles and machines perceive the world around them. At the time of this project, Ouster was exploring how software could make its lidar data more actionable for customers.
I partnered with the team to define a software experience for fleet operators responsible for monitoring driver safety and investigating on-road incidents. The opportunity was to transform complex 3D sensor data into a workflow that enabled safety teams to quickly understand what happened, identify contributing factors, and take action.
My work focused on designing tools for replaying and analyzing 3D lidar captures, enabling fleet operators and safety teams to navigate incidents from multiple perspectives, inspect environmental conditions, and reconstruct the sequence of events leading up to a safety issue. I also designed annotation and markup capabilities that supported note-taking, collaboration, and documentation throughout the investigation process.
